Today as we were coming home from lunch we saw a garage sale that looked intriguing so we decided to stop. As we were walking up we noticed the majority of the items were paintings - which all looked to be done by the same artist. So as we were browsing through we saw one that really caught our eyes. It was a gorgeous black and white oil painting that looked like a scene in France. A really romantic piece that made me think of love and all the wonderful feelings that come with it.

As we were staring at it the lady approached us and asked if we were interested in it. She told us that all of these paintings were her own work, and that she had just closed down her gallery and is going back to a regular job for financial reasons. Since she could tell we were both in love with the piece she offered us a deal on it, which was amazing considering it's worth much more. So we bought it, knowing that some day when we have a house of our own it would make a good focal piece - and my creative juices starting flowing thinking about a beautiful gray room with accents of pale yellow or green with this beautiful painting hanging on the wall.

I also think it's important to support local artists - and even if you think the price is a little high, remember how much time and effort they put into each piece and you'll realize it's worth it to spend a little more on handmade or crafted items.

This picture really doesn't do it justice, you have to see it in person to see the real beauty!
