If you haven't heard me talk about it before, I've always been a crafter and when Sydnee is here that's one thing she absolutely LOVES to do. So I try to make an effort and think of some ideas before she comes, and I'm always on the look out for new projects that we can make together.
I love incorporating recycled or repurosed materials in my crafting so this project worked purpose with some of the materials I had lying around the house.
Here's a simple tutorial on how to make a recycled photo frame:
1. Start with some square or rectangle carboard pieces - these were pieces I saved from some packages that were used to keep the items in place. You can use any sort of cardboard leftovers though, or simply cut a 4x6 rectangle from a box or piece of cardboard you have lying around.
2. Next comes the fun part. We started by painting the front and borders using crayola washable paints, you can pick a pack of 18 colors up at Target for around $4. It comes with paint brushes too! After I was done painting mine I went back in and added some lines and patterns. To add some finishing touches we made some bows out of ribbon I had lying around the house - but you can use anything that's available to you, leftover fabric, grass from the kids' easter basket, whatever material that will adhere with glue. No need to go out and buy special decorations for this project!
3. After painting and other decorations are done it's time to add the picture! Pick out one of your favorites from the week and print a 4x6 picture from your printer at home. The flip the frame over and add some pieces of tape in the corners. Be sure to line your picture up so you can see all of the pretty little faces!
Here are our finished products! I know it's pretty basic but it's a great inexpensive way to get the kids involved and let them express their creativity! And it definately makes a great gift! Who doesn't love a gift made from the heart?
