This year Chris and I hit this whole wedding planning thing hard. If you ever need a test as to if you are marrying the right person, plan a wedding for 300 people. It's a true test of your patience with each other and your future in-laws, and your relationship. I'm pretty sure Chris and I will come out of this stronger than ever and reach our one and only real goal throughout this process: get married!

Our immediate goal is to find a location. We've discovered after the first half a dozen calls/e-mails that in order to get the date you want, especially if it's on a Saturday you have to book more than a year in advance. No worries - us thinking big picture & keeping our end result of getting married in mind, we moved on from the date right away. Who cares what day it is, it will be our day regardless. We've also grown very fond of the idea of getting married on a Friday evening. Ceremony by sunset, good food and dancing throughout the night, something romantic & unique.

So then we started narrowing in on locations. We've sort of ruled out Beaver Dam right away, just because there's really not much besides golf courses and supper clubs and we knew we wanted to be unique. Then we narrowed down to a list of places we could still book sometime in September, something we could afford, and something unique. Over the next few weeks we will be visiting some / if not all of these places and making a decision hopefully by the end of the month, before it's too late!

This was the place we visited last week, called the Golden Mast Inn in Oconomowoc. The place was absolutely gorgeous. We both fell in love with it right away. Of course seeing it in the winter didn't give us an exact picture, but we used our imaginations to picture what it would look like. Looking over the lake, having enough room for lots of people both inside and outside, and the freedom to do whatever we'd like with decorations - the only limitation we had was no glitter, which is easily doable.

Here's some pictures, Chris fell in love with the pirate looking over the bar. Feel free to let us know what you think!

what sold chris.
