This week I learned the basics of crocheting. Sewing, cross-stitching, hooking, and crocheting are all things I grew up watching my Grandma do. At one point in my childhood I learned to cross stitch and I can still sort of do that now, but I know it will take a bit more practice in order to make something worth keeping.

But I've always been drawn to crocheting because of the amazing detail that can be created. So that's where I chose to start. After reading my "Basics of Crocheting and Knitting" I felt completely lost. I learn best by doing so reading and trying to follow the pictures I found very difficult - however it was helpful in explaining what materials are best to start with.

After much frustration I switched to online videos and started with a basic Granny Square tutorial. After lots of practice I finally came up with well, not exactly a square but more of a Granny Circle. It's definitely going to take some more practice in order to make something that looks good but for now I'll keep my collection of trial runs as a reminder of what not to do!
